WHAT IS ALL STAR DANCE?

The sport of All-Star Dance is beginning to grow in Australia as it is now running alongside major cheerleading events in Australia .  Down Under Spirit Championships held in Queensland on the Gold Coast have been running dance alongside their cheer program during the past few years.

All-Star teams require a minimum of 12 members but a preferred number of members would be 16 - 20 dancers that have a strong technique in dance in  particular jumps, turns and flexibility.  The routines are typically 2.30 minutes in length.

At competitions, the teams are divided by age and the size of the team ie small group of up to 20 members or large group of 21+ members. The routines are judged by their level of difficulty, precision, creativity, and entertainment value.

All-Star Dance is very similar to cheer only with a dance element ie. various styles can participate jazz, lyrical, hip hop, funk and contemporary.
