TRY-OUTS
Don’t be put off by the phrase “try-out”. We make the process as stress free as possible working alongside our athletes giving them numerous chances to demonstrate skills that they have already learned.
For cheer tryouts, the athletes will be asked to demonstrate their skills in motions, dance, jumps, stunts and tumbling.
For dance tryouts, the dancers will be taught short stylized routines that include turns, leaps and jumps.
In addition to assessing each individual’s skills, we are also looking for All Stars with determination, positive attitude, versatility, adaptability, a sense of teamwork and strong communication skills.
Our goal is to offer placement to every athlete that expresses an interest in All-Star, although sometimes due to age and experience level an athlete may require further training in our recreational program to gain the experience necessary to be a part of a competitive team.
Once our coaches have finalised their selection, we will contact each athlete (or parent) individually to offer a place on one of our teams.
Competitive cheerleading, whilst not as costly as some youth activities, can still be an expensive sport. Entry fees for competitions alone are expensive which is why we hold fundraising events through-out the year to benefit our students and our program.
As has been the case for the last several years, we anticipate teams going to 2-3 “local” competitions and finishing with “nationals” in October, being held in Melbourne for the first-time in 2009
