FAQ's

What do I need to start?

All you need to start is a great attitude and willingness to learn.  KLD X-Treme will teach you the dance, cheer, and tumbling skills that you need.

You will be placed into a recreational class based on your age and your skills and just to let you know Level One has no tumbling skill requirements at all!

At the highest level (Level 5 and sometimes Level 6 in Australia) cheerleaders are expected to have substantial tumbling skills which generally require extensive tumbling training.

Students can start cheer from the age of 5 years at KLD X-Treme through to adults allowing for senior students that attend high school, university or work.

Where do you train?

We train in a fully equipped cheerleading studio located in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs.  We practice on a fully sprung cheerleading floor which reduces injuries by 85% compared to others that may train on mats or hard floors.

We have a brand new tumbling track and numerous tumbling teaching aids.

We train in a dedicated facility selected and equipped for cheerleading that will rival any of our competitors.

What qualifications do your coaches have?

We have professional coaches.  Because we are a professional business, we pay our coaches which allows us to attract and seek out the best coaches in Victoria.

Our coaches are affiliated and technical members of Gymnastics Australia who are the governing body for cheerleading in Australia as recognised by the Australian Sports Commission.

Our coaches are regularly updating their qualifications to ensure they meet the safety standards of Gymnastics Victoria/Australia and internationally recognised bodies such as the USASF (United States All Star Cheerleading/Dance Federation).

Why do I have to do a recreational cheer class - I just want to compete?

The skills you learn in our recreational cheer classes are the same skills that you will need to successfully try out for one of our All Star teams.   Our recreational classes are the basis for learning the skills in a non-competitive environment that allows students to enjoy their experience and have fun making new friends whilst maintaining skills and taking part in our strength & injury prevention conditioning program.

What do I need for training?

At KLD X-Treme we have a uniform that is specifically designed for safe training as well as for comfort and correct alignment.  This consists of cheer shorts and singlet but more importantly with correct footwear.  Our cheer shoes are imported from America and are specifically designed for cheer practice and performance.  It is encouraged that students attend to purchasing their uniform and shoes from our uniform (Pro Shop) shop within the first 2 - 3 weeks of training.

What are the costs?

At KLD X-Treme we offer a very competitively priced program that takes into consideration students undertaking multiple classes.  Like with any sport there are costs, but we keep them as low as we can get them whilst providing a professional and high quality program and facility.  Full costs are available on request along with discounted rates for multiple classes and family members.
