CHEERLEADING TECHNIQUE & SKILLS
Cheerleading has many skills and components and these form the basis of cheer training at KLD X-Treme.
At KLD X-Treme we will teach you how to:

Cheerleading jumps are often compulsory in competitve routines, and good jumps receive higher marks. You will need a strong preparation and "whip" action to execute a jump properly as well as a strong start and clean ending to your jump.
Types of Jumps:
Straight, Star, Tuck, Toe Touch, Pike, Side Hurdler, Front Hurdler & Herkie are the main jumps in cheerleading

Tumbling is a very important part of cheerleading especially in All Star (competitive) routines. It adds an exciting element to the routine and to the sport of cheerleading. NEVER practice advanced tumbling without a knowledgeable spotter.
Types of Tumbling:-
Forward/Back Rolls, Cartwheel, Round-Off, Forward/Back Walk-Over, Front/Back Handsprings, Front/Back Saults (Flips), Aerials, Whips, Lay-outs, Arabian & Full are the main tumbling skills in cheerleading
Stunts can be referred to as lifts or acrobatic tricks. Beginner level stunts can consist of Pony Sits, Thigh stands and variations leading up to more advanced skills such as Prep/Elevator, Extension, Liberty, Scale, Arabesque, Scorpion, Tick Tock, Half up, 360, Cradle, Full Down etc.
There are 4 -5 team members that form a stunt group which consist of the flyer, base/s, back and front spotter.
Flyer may be referred to as top person or climber
Base may be referred to as bottom person or primary/secondary base
Back Spot may be referred to as back base or third base
Front Spot may be referred to as front base or fourth base
Stunts can be linked together to form a pyramid which can include dynamic transitions and intricate choreography.

A basket toss is made up of 2 bases facing one another, a back spot and a flyer. The bases grab their own wrist and then the other base's wrist to form a basket(grip) for the toss. The flyer will put her hands on the bases shoulders and jump up and into the basket by pushing through her arms. The back spot will assist the flyer into the basket and then get underneath to throw the flyer up and add more height to the toss. The back spot and bases would then keep their arms up high and prepare to catch the flyer in a cradle position.
There are many types of basket tosses some of which are straight, tuck, toe touch, pike, full, x-out and kick full.
Another important element to cheerleading is motions which include strong and precise arm movements. Some basic arm motions are Prep/Ready position, High/Low V, T, Broken T, High/Low Touchdown, Candlesticks, L, K, Diagonal and Punch.

If you've ever noticed a cheerleading squad performing at a sports event, you've certainly noticed how they use pom poms to add flare to their performance. However at competitive levels, pom poms play a more complex role.
Poms must be used for 80% of the routine and the important characteristics of the routine include synchronisation and visual effect, clean and precise arm motions, strong pom technique and incorporation of dance elements. Visual effects can include level changes, group work and formations and different coloured poms.
